Adult Short-Term Anger Management

 

Population Served/Target Population:  Adult males and females with a history of aggressive/assaultive behavior resulting in Criminal Justice System involvement. 

Admission Criteria:  

  1. No indications of MR/DD or a Thought Disorder. 
  2. Court system involvement (placed on probation) or referral from Child Protective Services.
  3. Willingness to participate.

Treatment Plan Goals:

  1. Understand events and cues that lead to anger and ways to develop an anger control plan.

  2. Understand the aggression cycle and learn the A-B-C-D model of cognitive restructuring.

  3. Understand assertiveness training and the conflict resolution model. 

  4. Understand how past learning can influence present behavior.

Model of Treatment:  Cognitive-Behavioral/Relapse Prevention.  Recovery Model. 

Performance/Discharge Criteria:  Clients will successfully complete the short term program if they attend 10 or more sessions of the 12 week program, complete and present their homework each week, and have no new criminal charges.
