Policy It is the policy of Mid-Ohio Psychological Services, Inc. to ensure the accessibility, availability, appropriateness and acceptability of services for clients, family members, and significant others who are physically, cognitively, visually, auditorially, or otherwise impaired and for individuals who speak a language other than standard English as a primary means of communication, at no additional cost to the client.
PROCEDURE PHYSICAL ACCESSIBILITY
Mid-Ohio Psychological Services will strive to
ensure physical accessibility of services through compliance with the American
Disabilities Act (ADA). All renovations of existing facilities and creation of
new facilities will be completed in compliance with ADA guidelines. It is the
responsibility of the Executive Director to ensure this compliance.
At least one clinical office will be accessible
to clients who are unable to climb stairs and at least one restroom will be
wheelchair accessible. LANGUAGE ACCESSIBILITY
Upon initial contact with a potential client who
is requesting services, possible language barriers between staff and the
potential client (including the client’s family and the client’s significant
others) will be identified. If the language barrier can be resolved
through the use of an interpreter, an interpreter will be made available at no
cost to the client. The Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining a list of
appropriate interpreters (including but not limited to interpreters for American
Sign Language and Spanish) as well as the name and address of a representative
from a major university language department who can provide the names of
interpreters for other languages.
A TDD will be maintained in the receptionist
area. All support staff will be trained in the use of the TDD. REMOVAL OF BARRIERS The agency will make every effort to resolve any accessibility issues immediately if possible, and within fourteen days of notice if immediate resolution is not possible. If resolution is not possible within fourteen days, a timeline for resolution of the barrier will be implemented. Revised 8/07
